The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Town of Gander on its presentation of a “balanced budget” of $19,987,211 for 2022.
Increasing taxation on the business community at this time is unfortunate but the Chamber believes the Town Council took a deliberate and thorough approach in balancing changing financial realities of the times and the needs of residents and businesses. We are encouraged to see the Town is finding new ways to facilitate growth of the municipality and making long term plans for development.
The Chamber is pleased to see the work put into the revised business classification system to implement a fair and compatible grouping of like businesses. It is positive to see input submitted from Chamber members was incorporated in these revisions.
Chamber Chair, Hannah de Young, stated, “This budget reflects the challenges of maintaining services for the residents and businesses of Gander and balancing against inflation and rising expenses, while being focused on growth opportunities for the Town.”
