Untold Stories-Reconnected – Gander

Untold Stories – Reconnected offers a rare opportunity to hear the personal stories behind one of the most extraordinary chapters in Gander’s history, Operation Yellow Ribbon, featuring firsthand accounts from “Plane People,” local residents, and others who experienced these extraordinary events 25 years ago.

We are pleased to welcome The Honourable David Collenette, Canada’s Minister of Transport on September 11, 2001, as a special guest. He will share his perspective on the events of that day and Canada’s unprecedented response to the thousands of passengers diverted to communities across the country.
Through stories of compassion, resilience, unexpected friendships, and hope, speakers will share memories and experiences that have remained largely untold over the past quarter century. Untold Stories offers a deeply personal look at the human impact of September 11, 2001, and the remarkable response of the people of Gander and surrounding communities. It is an opportunity to hear the voices behind the history, honour the connections formed during those six unforgettable days, and preserve these stories for generations to come.

Join us for an evening of reflection, gratitude, and personal stories as we remember the extraordinary legacy of kindness, friendship, and humanity that emerged from one of the world’s darkest days.
